Colnago and racing have always been synonymous, with a storyline that arcs from legendary champions like Eddy Merckx, Giuseppi Saronni and Tony Rominger to today’s budding stars. We’re very proud of our own Colnago factory team, loaded with names that will be making headlines tomorrow and more than a few this year.
The 16-rider squad will pick up where it left off in its successful 2010 campaign, when it earned a trip to the Giro d’Italia and won nine races in its debut season with Colnago as the title sponsor.
Domenico Pozzovivo, a winner of a stage and third at the Giro del Trentino and two stages and the overall at the Brixia Tour, is back as one of the team leaders. The talented 28-year-old climber will be looking to improve on his ninth place in the 2008 Giro with another run at the top-10. Manuel Belletti, who had a dream run through the Giro capped by a dramatic breakaway victory in stage 13, started the 2011 season off with a bang with a stage victory at the Reggio Calabria tour to open his account in January.
Behind those headliners are scores of young, promising talent that includes Gianluca Brambila, Andrea Piechele and Simone Stortoni, who was second at the Monte Terminillo stage in last year’s Giro.
